Playing the game...

Monday 22 March, 2010

What a shocker! Rick has had his immunity stripped because of his weight gain! His decision to eat at Temptation may be one he will regret for quite some time. While consuming nearly 3,000 calories will have made a difference to his result this week, I also think that extra glass of water he had before stepping onto the scales may have been a bad idea. The guys are smart at this point – they know the tactics that can help them stay in the house. Unfortunately for Rick, the tactics didn’t quite work this time.

Here’s how I see it… with immunity Rick thought he could control the game by losing only a small amount this week, saving the good result for next week and ensuring another week in the house. I've only got one thing to say to Rick: You can’t control this game! Try and control it and you will lose. As Shannan used to tell me, “Control the controllable!” I know it's a game, but lose track of the real reason you are there and it will eat you up and spit you out of Camp Biggest Loser!

Sadly, I think Rick's decision to try and manipulate the game will, more than likely, be the thing that sends him home. Tonight’s elimination is going to be an interesting one…

Phil had a sensational weight loss, as predicted. Joe did fantastically well on the scales too – putting him in a very good position to take home the title.

I hope this week’s loss will assist Phil to get to the end of the game. As I’ve said many times before, this game is hard. Physically hard, yes, but mentally, it can wear you down. This positive outcome may be just what Phil needs to keep him moving forward.

Last chance training is the hardest and one of the most important sessions of the week. Personally, I feel it’s more important to the mind than anything else. As Shannan would say, “Finish hard! Come home strong! It’s always the way you finish!” So by giving it your all before you weigh-in, you get to walk into the weigh-in room knowing you have done everything you can to get the best possible results.

This week, contestant Shannon said, “Shannan said he will never give us anything that we can’t do.” It’s so true. Many, many times I would go in to a session with Shannan convinced that I couldn’t do what he was asking, but each time I would finish the session on a high because, once again, I’d completed something I never thought possible!

My tip to all who are training: listen to what your personal trainer says. Trust your instructor and push to a new level. You’ll discover your strengths and, believe me, you can do it! Your body is an amazing machine and it’s capable of fantastic things – it’s only your mind that will hold you back.

Believe in yourself,
