I really struggled with last night’s elimination. As a member of last year’s Blue team, I felt we played the game with heart, so it was hard (but not unexpected) to see the contestants play last night with their heads.
Voting off Amanda and Stewart and giving Holly and Mel a reprieve was strategic game-play – with the amount of weight she has to lose, Amanda is by far the biggest threat. But I agree with everyone on The Biggest Loser Club forums that Amanda needs to be there so it’s a bitter pill to see her go home.
It broke my heart to hear her say, “I’m not a threat. I’m not here for the money. I’m here to live.”
This is so true. You don’t stand on national TV, wearing Lycra, weighing-in in front of a million people, for $200,000 – you’re there for help. When you apply for The Biggest Loser, you’re crying out for help.
But I shouldn’t get so down about it because, as Stewart (who was so gracious in defeat) said, “We’re not going to lose any friendships over this.” This is a game after all and the contestants had to play their cards the best they could.
Amanda’s resolve about continuing her Biggest Loser journey is worth quoting here: “I’m going to try to lose as much weight as possible but it’s not about that for me. It’s about becoming beautiful.”
Sister, as Andrew said, you don’t have to become beautiful because you already are! I certainly hope that on the outside Amanda will be able to see the beauty inside her which we all see already. She has come a very long way in a short amount of time, and I know she and Stewart can go all the way if they work hard and stay commited to the dream.
That is, of course, if Loser doesn't mess with their heads too much in the meantime! What's with the surprise elimination that Ajay announced at the end of the episode? Maybe Holly and Mel will be going home after all? Tune in tonight at 7PM on TEN and remember to check your inbox in the morning for my daily update.
Last night's elimination was not to be missed so, if you didn't see it, you can watch the full episode at The Biggest Loser TV show website.
Below, I have shared my two favourite segments from Amanda and Stewart's elimination. The first is where the final vote is cast and the couple reacts to the decision.
The second is the recent catch-up where we see Amanda and Stewart two months on. OMG – they both look fantastic! Congratulations to Stewart for losing 20kg and Amanda for losing 22kg – I can't wait to see these guys at Finale!
