I agree with Sammy – last night was one weird weigh-in! While it was great to see everyone pulling such big numbers at this stage in the game, Holly and Mel dropped a bombshell when they said their journey had come to a close, they no longer wanted to ‘play’.
I understand what they’re going through because there were dark hours for me in the house when I was desperately homesick and anxious to get back to my family, but I also share Nathan’s disappointment – it’s a great privilege to be part of Loser and it’s not really up to you to decide when it’s time to go home.
That said, I don’t think they should be confident of getting what they ask for because if the other contestants are playing for strategy, they’ll be sure to keep the sisters and send Julie and Meaghan home.
It’s a shame that Holly and Mel couldn’t be a part of Shannan’s training session last night – I think they would have benefited from packing the weight they’d lost on their backs and trying to exercise. It would have given them a sense of what they’ve achieved so far and how much further they have to go.
As Shannan said to his team: “How hard life was for you just to exist [back then]… No wonder you were miserable, no wonder you were tired all the time.” Only someone who’s been there knows how true this is.
That’s why I love seeing footage of the contestants on Fitzroy Island – they have come such a long way in such a short period of time and it’s almost an honour to be witnessing their transformation.
Speaking of transformation, I wanted to make a few special shout-outs following last night’s weigh-in:
I am really curious to see the results of tonight’s episode and whether heads will rule hearts like they have on previous eliminations. Be sure to tune in at 7PM on TEN and then check your inbox in the morning for my daily update.
If you missed last night's show, you can watch the full episode at The Biggest Loser TV show website.
I also recommend watching Shannan's last-chance training session where the contestants strap on the weight they've lost and experience just how difficult life was at the start of their journey. It starts at about 7 minutes 30 seconds into the video.
