Not fair! I am finding it difficult to contain my envy during this Series. I desperately want to be back at Camp Biggest Loser. I mean we, the Series 3 contestants, never got the opportunity to meet AFL legends the Swannies – we never got to train with so many hot men!
If I had my time over I would have applied for Series 4! That said, I agree with the trainers that after the shock double ‘elimination’ everyone’s spirits needed lifting.
Nathan and Bob seemed to be doing their own heavy lifting back on Fitzroy Island. The Commando had them hauling their gear for the next 5 weeks up the beach and then to their shack – ouch that’s tough work.
I had a giggle when the Commando explained that his training sessions prove that you don’t need “pussy gyms” to get fit. That is so true.
These days I travel a lot and as long as I take my trainers and my iPod, I can always do a work out. Mainly I run around the city I’m visiting but my current trainer, a PTI (personal training instructor) in the Navy, also gets me doing a lot of exercise outdoors. He’ll find a tortuous set of stairs and make me run up it, with or without weights. Or he’ll push me to the point of fatigue with body weight exercises such push-ups, chin-ups and burpees.
So many of my current workouts require me to dig deep and show my trainer what I’ve got, which is exactly what Bob was doing last night with the Commando. Despite the agony, despite struggling, he didn’t quit and still found more to give. He proved to himself that his body is much more capable than his mind thinks it is.
That truly is the amazing thing about the Loser environment and why the game is just so darn inspiring. It pushes you to places you’ve never been before; it helps you uncover things in yourself that you never knew existed. To say that it is a life transforming experience is an understatement!
I think Cameron’s wife, Donna, really saw the transformation in him when she and her daughter visited the camp thanks to Bob who generously donated the family visit he won by being the Biggest Loser of the week to Cam.
I was very touched as both wife and daughter seemed incredibly proud of him. Even more touching was the letter Bob had left behind for Cam. Although earlier in the show I agreed with Sharif’s concerns about Cameron not working hard enough on his diet, I do accept what Bob had to say: “Success of your journey is arriving at your destination, not how fast you get there.”
Cam’s journey is going to be one of the longer ones but it doesn’t matter how long it takes, so long as he gets there and keeps learning about himself along the way.
I'm feeling nervous for Sharif and the other contestants ahead of tonight's Walk – it seems that there are a few more shocks in store! Tune in at 7PM on TEN and then check your inbox in the morning for my daily updates.
If you missed last night's show, you can watch the full episode at The Biggest Loser TV show website.
In the meantime, I highly recommend the Commando's log hauling session with the old bull and the young bull – it's an inspiration!
