I can’t believe that it’s two months into this season of Loser and I’m still crying during the weigh-ins! It’s so strange for me to be watching the emotional rollercoaster ride the contestants are going through having experienced it so intimately myself.
It’s a bit like reading a book or watching a film where the lead character is living a life very similar to yours. With every episode I think: I felt that, I’ve thought that, I’ve tried that!
For example, I’ve felt the confusion that Bob and Nathan must be feeling having only lost 1kg and 100g respectively. This slowdown was bound to happen at some point – I’m sure they’ll blame the move to the island but the reality is that sometimes your body just doesn’t do what you expect it to.
If they stay true to everything they’ve learned at Camp Biggest Loser and follow the Commando’s instructions, they’ll recover and be back with some big numbers next week.
It was great to see both the Reds and Blues pulling big numbers for this stage in the game. Actually, I can’t believe that so many of the girls are already in the 80’s with still a good month before Finale! They are going to be tiny by then – a few of the shorter girls may even hit the 50s.
As amazing as the physical changes are, what makes me teary is the inner transformations the contestants are experiencing. I mean did you see how pretty and happy and sparkly Sammy looked? That is the beauty deep inside her shining from within.
And what about Sharif? It broke my heart when he explained how before Loser he was too ashamed of himself and too embarrassed for his wife to hold her hand in public. But through all the blood, sweat and tears he is starting to see the man inside himself that his wife sees. He is starting to feel on the outside like the man he is on the inside.
Perhaps the most profound turnaround this past week has been Cam. After last week’s Walk, I thought the Reds were very smart to swap Cam for Andrew but last night’s weigh-in proved both of us wrong – it appears they’ve traded a very strong weapon.
Not only was Cam the Biggest Loser of the week but he appears to have finally got his head right which makes him a major threat in the game. As he said, it’s all about the mind; it’s all about what you believe you can do. If Cam can maintain the good attitude, I predict we’ll see big numbers from him from this point forward.
In the meantime I am worried for Teresa, Tiff and Sean ahead of tonight’s elimination. Not only does the Double bracelet make Teresa an obvious threat but she’s clearly not part of the parent/sibling alliance that Meaghan mentioned last week. Tiff is vulnerable without Bob to back her up and, if you wanted to take out one of the strongest men in the game, you’d vote for Sean in a heartbeat.
Be sure to tune in tonight at 7PM on TEN and then check your inbox in the morning for my daily update.
