The emotion of last night’s Elimination confirmed for me just how close the final five contestants, and particularly the alliance members, have become. It’s testament to how unique and special the bond is between those of us that have the privilege to participate in Loser.
I mean, Cam had to choose between his daughter and a friend which should have been an easy decision, right? Obviously Julie would, and did get, his vote. But he was genuinely torn because Julie, like many of the other contestants, is now a part of his family, albeit a weird and wonderful one!
Tiff felt it deeply, too. It’s been a while since we’ve seen her so very upset. She’s at the part of the game where you’re just so desperate to move forward, to get home, to get to Finale, to get it over with; but, as we saw, the heartbreak when someone so close to you leaves is almost too much to bear.
Which gets me to the true subject of this blog: Julie. She left the Camp last night with grace and dignity. Not only should Julie be very proud of what she’s achieved but she should draw strength from the fact that she’s now a role model – not just for Tiff and Sammy, but for everyone out there who thought it was too late to turn their lives around.
Julie came on the show not for herself but to support her daughter, Meaghan. I think what she’s gotten out of the experience has really surprised her. In her wildest dreams, she would have never imagined getting to the final week or being able to survive all of the physical challenges that she has thrived through. I think she has truly started to see the Julie in Julie, not just the mum in Julie.
It has been wonderful to watch her transformation and I can’t wait to see her at Finale!
Which makes me wonder who out of the five remaining contestants will become the Final Three. I’m putting my money on Tiff to take one of the spots, but the rest of the field is wide open.
Be sure to tune in tonight at 7PM on TEN, and all this week for that matter, to see the contestants go through the final challenges that determine who will take the stage at Finale.
