There's just one week left of the Second Chance Challenge, meaning it's just one week until the weight-loss winner is revealed on The Biggest Loser and one couple becomes $10,000 richer! In between working out and sticking to The Biggest Loser Club Meal Replacement Program in order to cut a few more kilos for the final weigh-in, some of the Second Chance team took the time to reflect on their new lifestyle, changes they've experienced and friendships they've made.
Biggest Loser Couple of the week
Brothers: Chris and Michael
This week saw Chris and Michael knock Tanya and Conrad off their two-week winning streak. The brothers lost a combined weight of 8.7kg this week, taking their total loss to date to an amazing 67.5kg. Younger brother Michael, who is losing weight to join the army, was also the individual biggest loser of the week, shedding 4kg. With the end of the competition so close, and Finale and the $10,000 prize in sight, these brothers have shown they aren’t ready to rest on their laurels.
Looking back
With Finale taking place next week, some of the Second Chance team members take the time to look back on how their life has changed since losing weight and living a healthier lifestyle, thanks to the help of The Biggest Loser Club Meal Replacement Program.
Since starting the competition, Ben and his Challenge partner Kate have lost a life-changing 69.6kg. When Kate saw herself on TV at the start of the Second Chance Challenge she was taken aback. Kate reveals, “Seeing the update on Ben and I on TV last week was a little confronting. I burst into tears when I saw myself sitting on the couch back at the start of this Challenge. I was huge! I couldn’t believe it as I never really thought I was that big. This is the first time since the beginning that I have let myself feel the enormity of what I have been through and what I have achieved.”
Having torn a muscle in his shoulder meant that Alex couldn’t exercise this week. However, this didn’t stop his step daughter Jesikah maintaining her fitness regime. Alex says, “Jesikah has been doing so well this week. She went to boot camp and the gym without me and you can really see a change in her attitude. She is really determined and her willpower has improved tremendously. I am so pleased and proud she took this second chance at life with me. We’ve got through our differences and have grown a lot closer.”
Jodie Weber reached her goal this week by treating herself to some new swimwear. “I have finally bought a bikini, which was one of my goals. I can’t wait to wear it! I’m enjoying socialising and people noticing the huge change. I never thought being 20kg lighter would make that much difference, but it has,” says Jodie.
Donna-Louise also had a moment of nostalgia this week and it dawned on her just how different and improved life is for her now. “I did the Sugar Loaf in Mt Gambier on the weekend with some wonderfully supportive friends. It’s 4.2kg long and very hilly, but I even ran parts! We completed it in one hour 15 minutes including photo stops.” Donna-Louise continues, “Doing this made me realise how much I’ve missed out on because of my weight. I’ve been going to Mt Gambier for 10 years and I’ve never seen the views I saw last weekend. I’ve not only held myself back, but also my friends and husband.”
