Determined to shed the kilos for the sake of her health, Emma Youlden has joined forces with older sister, Jessica and her father, Kevin to outplay and outlast the competing families. Here she provides an insight into her experience...
Update 1
Wednesday
Struggled a bit today. Had a barbecue and all my friends were having a drink – I had Diet Coke.
Friday
Going out to dinner tonight. It’s my friend’s birthday and it’s a banquet dinner. Will be hard to behave!
Update 2
Wednesday
I’m doing my gym orientation today at Jetts Ashmore. Looking forward to getting in there and starting some training with the owner, Christie.
Thursday
It’s my second day at the gym today. I’m really enjoying it – it’s nice to have more options than just walking.
Update 3
Monday
I’m still enjoying The Biggest Loser Club shakes, which is surprising considering we’re entering the fifth week. Still struggling to enjoy the exercise side of things, but I’m getting there.
Update 4
Sunday
Yes! Had a good weight loss last week. It gives me motivation for the coming week – keeping fingers crossed for a good week! I’ll focus on The Biggest Loser Club Meal Replacement products and doing four to five exercise sessions.
Tuesday
I’m having a good week. I’m happy with my results, trying some new things with my food, and the shakes are still working and filling me up.
Wednesday
Exercise is getting a little easier. I’m not sure I’m suited to it, but I shall push through!
Thursday
Well, I’ve had a few comments now from colleagues about my weight loss. I’m starting to enjoy exercise (AT LAST!).
Saturday
I find the food I’ve been eating satisfies me, with the help of the shakes. I’ll eat the soups when it gets cooler, but the exercise is still hard for me, as I haven’t done it for a long time. But I do enjoy walking on the treadmill at the gym.
Good weight loss this week – hope I keep it up!
Update 5
Sunday
I exercised again today, but it’s not getting easier. I have holidays in a couple of weeks and I’m going up to Dad and Kim’s farm for a few nights to get motivated. That’s the plan.
Monday
With shift work it’s hard to organise meals sometimes, but The Biggest Loser Club Meal Replacements make it so much easier – and they taste okay too. Exercise is becoming a little easier. I’m looking forward to seeing Dad in a couple of weeks; I know he’ll push me.
Tuesday
I’ve been working out. I can’t seem to get past the 45-minute mark on the walker, but I have been doing it regularly.
Wednesday
Had a bit of an off day. I went for a walk last night, but took a rest day today. I’ll bounce back tomorrow. I’m still off the drinks and nibbles, too, which have been my downfall in the past.
Update 6
Sunday
Four days off now and I’m going to give the gym a big hit. My diet is okay, but I know I have to exercise more.
Monday
Well, what a great weight loss today! I think this combination of exercise and diet might actually work. Dad has been on my case about upping the exercise and I have. It works. I’m going for another walk today.
Wednesday
Walking outdoors is getting easier; however, I prefer to walk on the machine at the gym because I think I get a better workout and it’s over and done with in under an hour. I should up my intensity soon, because I’m going out to Dad’s on Tuesday and I know he’s going to kick my butt. Not sure if I’m looking forward to it or not!
Update 7
Sunday
Motivation is low – only a couple of shifts and I’m on holidays. Yeah!
Thursday
Off home today after a few days at the farm. How did we go? I did a big walk with Jess – like 6km.
Friday
The weight is coming off slowly. I need to be at Dad’s more, as he pushes me. I have a problem with motivation.
Saturday
Half a kilo is better than putting on weight, but I did work out at Dad’s quite a bit. My meals are okay, I just need to do more exercise – but I don’t enjoy it like Jess and Dad do.
Update 8
Sunday
Off to Dad’s farm tomorrow. I hope I’m motivated enough to put in a few good days with him, as I need to drop 6kg in three weeks to get to the original goal I set myself at the start of the Biggest Loser Club journey. I really want to be under 100kg for the next weigh-in.
Monday
I know Dad’s going to smash me, but I need it – I didn’t lose a great deal last week. I’m motivated now and want to get under that 100kg before the last weigh-in. Only 6kg away – let’s do it!
Thursday
I’m camping with my brother and some friends. Had a good walk yesterday and am going for another today. I’m back on the shakes as they work for me – very convenient and portion-controlled. I hope I get a good loss this week, because I know Dad and Jess will have put in the work.
Friday
Looking forward to a good result tomorrow after a disappointing week last week. I’ve been working hard.
Saturday
I’m really happy with my result. I worked really hard to get it! Looking forward to the final result.
Latest update
Sunday
Really looking forward to seeing everyone in Sydney next week. I can’t believe all this is nearly over! Who will be the Biggest Loser?
Monday
Not feeling too well today at work, but will go to the gym after I finish. I've got to lose more weight, and my diet is okay, so I have to exercise more. I’m going to Dad’s this week with Jess: I know they’ll push me.
Tuesday
I’ll try to do some exercise in between my night shifts. Off to the gym today and then home for a sleep, then to work.
Wednesday
I don’t want to do night shift: I’m so tired today. No exercise. Bloody rain.
